Watch Dogs 2: Customization Options Detailed

Watch Dogs 2 is almost here, and it looks like this game may do for the 2014 original game what 2009’s Assassin’s Creed II did for the first Assassin’s Creed game- it seems like this game may breathe new life into the formula, by injecting some fun into the proceedings. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the liberal use of color in this game’s visual palette, compared the dour, drab, dark gray and black tones used in the original game almost exclusively. And that use of color extends to the game’s protagonist too, who will have a whole host of customization options available to him this time around. The new customization options will include hats, jacket-shirt combos, pants, shoes, glasses, and bags, and they will change from store to store- so some stores may specialize in selling more hats than jackets, and so on. It sounds like a Pokemon X/Y-esque approach to customization, actually. Watch Dogs 2 will be out in November on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. You can check out the

Lava from volcano in Hawaii reaches Pacific Ocean

The Big Island of Hawaii is getting a little bigger as lava from the Kilauea Volcano flows into the Pacific Ocean. The 6.5 mile-long lava flow has been dribbling down the south flank of Kilauea since May, according to the U.S. Geological Survey Hawaiian Volcano Observatory. It reached the ocean on Tuesday morning. The USGS said the flow is about 20 meters (66 feet) wide where it spills over the cliff into the sea. Review: The Legend of Tarzan Is Revisionist, Anachronistic, Weird and Beautiful

Sections of this film are so imaginative, and so lovely, that they deserve our open-heartedness, not our scorn Conceptually, at least, David Yates’ The Legend of Tarzan, starring Alexander Skarsgård as the fantastically brawny lord of the jungle, just can’t win. It’s adapted from a series of boys’ adventure books written in the early 1900s, when racial and social awareness wasn’t anything close to what it is today, and “colonialism” wasn’t yet a word that was always preceded by “the evils of.” The world is better off, now that we’ve learned—or at least are learning—to think and talk about these things. But what about Tarzan, Edgar Rice Burroughs’ English and very white lord raised in the African jungle by apes, a man in tune with his body and with nature, but one who must also, eventually, adjust to the mores of civilization? The ape-man has lived for a very long time through Burroughs’ books, and through almost countless movie and TV adaptations, including the Johnny Weissmuller and

3 things we learned as Portugal beat Poland on penalties in Euro 2016

Portugal saw off Poland on penalties in Marseille on Thursday to reach the semifinals of Euro 2016. Poland's Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring after just a couple of minutes, only for Renato Sanches to peg them back later in the first half. Portugal had the better of the play from thereon, though failed to take their chances and relied on a shootout to ensure their place in the final four. Poland could hardly have made a better start to the match, breaking the deadlock after just a couple of minutes. Kamil Grosicki caught Portugal right-back Cédric napping underneath a high ball, and promptly delivered a lethal low cross into the penalty area. A brilliant run ensured Lewandowski found himself in the right place at just the right time, and he slotted the ball powerfully beyond Rui Patricio and into the back of the net. Portugal could've been rattled, but to their credit, Fernando Santos' side steadied the ship. They started to settle on the ball, and forced Poland'

Hillary Clinton's lack of empathy has her limping to the finish line | TheNews Linzer

As the California primary looms, building a rapport with voters – an emotional connection with working Americans – must be Clinton’s biggest priority This is a time of high anxiety for supporters of Hillary Clinton. The polls show a tightening race between Clinton and a Republican nominee who, among other things, wants to date his own daughter, deport 11 million US residents, and start a trade war with China. Other polls show a close contest in the final Democratic primary in California, between Clinton and a challenger who, among other things, wants to raise taxes on everyone and is proud to call himself a socialist. Since the only common factor in these two sets of troubling polls is Hillary Clinton, there must be a connection. Right? Wrong. Let’s start with the Democratic race against Bernie Sanders, who shows no sign of throwing in the towel in this nomination battle. The most recent polling last week, by the Public Policy Institute of California, shows that Clinton is leading Sand

Donald Trump has Bill Clinton's past in his sights – how should Hillary respond? | TheNews Linzer

When the Republican presumptive nominee dredges up historical sexual allegations against the former president, is it better to rise above or hit back? At the recent premiere of HBO’s drama All the Way at the National Archives in Washington, there was a moment that prompted murmurs of recognition from an audience including senators, political correspondents and Lyndon Johnson’s granddaughter. It came when Bryan Cranston’s Johnson, alarmed by his Republican rival’s populist tactics, snarls: “Goldwater wants to get down into the mud? By God, I can do that.” It was always a question of when, not if, Donald Trump would get his hands dirty in the 2016 presidential contest against Hillary Clinton. That time is now. In recent days the Republican presumptive nominee, seeking to deflect attention from his own chauvinism, has unleashed an attack ad that raises allegations of sexual harassment or assault by Bill Clinton. In a TV interview he used the word “rape”. He has also revived conspiracy t

Sanders faced fresh criticism over the past week, after his supporters were accused of threatening a state party chairwoman at the Nevada Democratic convention during a raucous confrontation over the nominating process. In an interview broadcast by CNN’s State of the Union on Sunday, the senator struck a defiant tone, arguing that the rules to determine the party standard-bearer were “unacceptable”. “The current situation is undemocratic and it is ill-advised,” Sanders said, decrying the selection of so-called superdelegates – party insid

Jonny Bairstow and Alex Hales lead England rally after Sri Lanka strike | TheNews Linzer

First Test, day one: England 171-5 v Sri Lanka Alex Hales (71*) and Jonny Bairstow (54*) counterattack from 83-5 Before the rain came to wash out play beyond the tea interval, we had the makings of a game at Headingley. A first session to Sri Lanka, in the course of which a young debutant seamer managed to take three wickets for the loss of just one run, was countered in the afternoon by an unbroken retaliatory partnership of 88 in 21 overs between Alex Hales, playing what is even now comfortably his most accomplished Test innings, and Jonny Bairstow, batting with real urgency but without any recklessness, that left the day evenly poised. Hales will resume on 71 and Bairstow 54, as England, 83 for five at one stage and staring at an embarrassing start to the series, reached 171 without further loss . England’s slump was dismally processional and to some extent self-inflicted, the mindset that suggests a moving ball can best be countered by flinging the bat at it and teeing off provi

Bernie Sanders wins Oregon primary while Clinton claims narrow win in Kentucky | TheNews Linzer

Sanders overcame state’s closed primary, which allows only registered Democrats – not independents – to vote, while Clinton declared victory in Kentucky Bernie Sanders’ supporters handed him a win in the Oregon primary on Tuesday, adding to his run of late victories over Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton. With 60% of the vote reporting, the Vermont senator was ahead of Clinton 53%-47%. In Kentucky, which also voted on Tuesday, Clinton declared victory hours after polls closed, but officially the race was too close to call . With 99.8% reporting, Clinton had 46.8% to 46.3% for Sanders. From the start, it seemed Oregon was destined to be Bernie Sanders country. When the Vermont senator first visited Portland, while still considered a fringe candidate, huge crowds of supporters forced his campaign to book a basketball stadium to accommodate the larger-than-anticipated crowd. During a later visit, a tiny bird landed on his podium in the midst of his speech, delighting the intern

Similar to Barack Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper, a program aimed at supporting young black men nationwide, New York’s Young Women’s Initiative is the first time young women, specifically women of color and trans women, have been the focus of a major policy initiative. Young women, particularly young women of color, are “in the business of opening doors and shattering glass ceilings”, said the city council speaker, Melissa Mark-Viverito, the first Latina to hold the role. She called on more young women to run for political office, and the report encourages the

Arsenal finish second as Olivier Giroud hat-trick sees off Aston Villa | TheNews Linzer

Premier League Emirates Stadium It has happened again. For the 21st season in succession Arsenal finished above Tottenham Hotspur, and this time the result came coated in black comedy – at least, as far as the red half of north London was concerned. Arsenal’s victory here against the most abject Aston Villa team in recent memory was never in doubt and, when it was coupled with Tottenham’s 5-1 capitulation at Newcastle United, the Emirates Stadium crowd could laugh and gloat loudly. A few weeks ago, Spurs were vying with Leicester City for the title. But they must now reflect on having somehow trailed in third in a two-horse race. How Arsenal gloried in it all and the Emirates Stadium has not felt this happy for quite some time. Olivier Giroud was barracked by sections of the home crowd but he still managed to score a hat-trick and the occasion was completed when Mikel Arteta, the club captain, came on as a late substitute on his farewell appearance. He almost marked it with a goal

Ukraine wins Eurovision song contest with politically charged 1944 | TheNews Linzer

Singer Jamala calls for ‘peace and love’ after beating rivals with ballad about deportation of Crimean Tatars, seen as criticism of Russia’s actions in 2014 Ukraine has won the 2016 Eurovision song contest with an entry whose politically charged lyrics have caused tensions with neighbouring Russia. Singer-songwriter Jamala was crowned the winner for her haunting rendition of the ballad 1944, which evoked the deportation of Crimean Tatars by Josef Stalin and has been interpreted as a criticism of Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014. As she collected her trophy, she pleaded for “peace and love”.  Before the final, which was held in Stockholm on Saturday evening and seen by many as the most politicised edition of the competition to date, Jamala had said her victory would show that Europeans were “ready to hear about the pain of other people”. Jamala, whose real name is Susana Jamaladynova, is herself a Crimean Tatar who has not been home since shortly after Russia’s 2014 annexation
