The Shockwaves have emanated from announcement that Howard Shultz’s coffee giant Starbucks SBUX +3.16% plans to expand into Italy. That's not exactly like McDonald’s opening in the Italian capital – an event that launched the Slow Food Movement. So also not exactly like McDonald’s selling French fries (which are really from Belgium) in Paris, But it’s a very important big deal. Spokes folk for a Starbucks have announced that the move will be done with great care and most respect. Some ways that will be easy. These plan to add the sort of standup bars common in Italian coffee bars and a selection of alcoholic libations too – another Euro staple. Those expect to offer smaller portions of their signature drinks, be competitively priced and pay attention to other local customs. So there will be experiments with food offerings.
